Three free cells are already occupied, there are no empty tableau columns, and only the Ace of Diamonds has reached a foundation. The winning line begins with a counter-intuitive commitment: using the final free cell before any obvious space has been created.
Yes. Puzzle #1 is a verified solvable position derived from Microsoft Deal #454. The saved board state sits on a legal winning line and has been replay-checked from the original numbered deal through to a completed game.
This position comes from Microsoft Deal #454, a deal listed as Very Difficult by MobilityWare. The immediate temptation is to protect the last open free cell, but the verified line does the opposite: the King of Diamonds goes into it, temporarily filling all four cells. The escape comes from reorganising the tableau in the correct order.
A verified winning continuation starts K♦ → free cell 4, then 10♣ → J♥, 8♣ → 9♥, 7♦ → 8♣, 7♣ → 8♦ and 6♥ → 7♣. That sequence starts opening the board while all four free cells are under pressure.
