Overview

Last updated: September 3, 2026.

FreeCell Now is designed so you can play on freecellnow.com without creating an account. The game does not ask you to provide a name, email address, or payment information before starting a deal.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you visit the site, including optional browser storage, a first-party preference cookie, approximate country detection through Cloudflare, region-limited use of Google Analytics, and technical information processed to deliver and protect the website.

Who is responsible for this site

FreeCell Now, the operator of freecellnow.com, determines how personal information is used for the operation of this website and acts as the data controller where applicable.

If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a data-protection right, you can contact us using the method listed in the Contact section below.

Game data stored in your browser

The setting Remember my game and preferences on this device controls whether FreeCell Now uses persistent browser storage for game data.

For visitors whose country is detected as being in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, persistent game storage is off by default. It is also off by default when the country cannot be determined reliably. For visitors detected in other countries, it is on by default. You can change this setting at any time.

When the setting is on, the game uses localStorage in your browser. The locally stored information can include:

  • your current game and deal progress;
  • game preferences such as sound, animations, table theme, and card style; and
  • local game statistics such as games played, wins, best time, and best move count.

This game data stays in your browser and is not associated with a FreeCell Now user account. The game code does not upload your saved game state or local game statistics to a FreeCell Now account or database.

When you explicitly change the remember setting, FreeCell Now stores a small first-party preference cookie named freecell_remember_device. Its value is only 1 (on) or 0 (off). The cookie is used to remember your choice so the site does not silently reverse it on a later visit. It is not used for advertising or analytics and is set for up to one year, unless you delete it sooner.

If you turn the remember setting off, the game removes the FreeCell Now game data it manages in localStorage. The preference cookie may remain with the value 0 so your opt-out can be respected on later visits.

The remember setting applies only to FreeCell Now game storage. It does not control whether Google Analytics is loaded. Analytics loading is determined separately using the regional rule described below.

Approximate country detection

FreeCell Now uses Cloudflare's country code for the request for two purposes: to determine the initial state of the Remember my game and preferences on this device setting, and to determine whether the Google Analytics tag is allowed to load. Cloudflare derives this approximate country information from the IP address associated with the request.

The site does not need or request your precise GPS location, street address, latitude, or longitude to make these decisions, and the country code is not written into the freecell_remember_device cookie.

If Cloudflare does not provide a usable country code, or reports the request as an unknown location or Tor network, FreeCell Now applies a privacy-protective default: persistent game storage starts off and the Google Analytics tag is not loaded.

Google Analytics

FreeCell Now uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google, to understand how the site is used and to improve its content, performance, and game experience. The Analytics tag is loaded only when Cloudflare provides a reliable country code and that country is not in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

For visitors detected as being in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, FreeCell Now does not load the Google Analytics JavaScript tag. The tag is also not loaded when the visitor's country cannot be determined reliably. This regional decision is independent of the game's Remember my game and preferences on this device setting.

When Google Analytics is loaded, its standard implementation can collect information such as page views and other site interactions, session statistics, approximate geographic information, and browser or device information. Google explains that GA4 uses IP addresses at collection time to derive location information and then discards the IP address before the data is logged in Analytics.

GA4's JavaScript tag can set first-party Analytics cookies including _ga, used to distinguish users, and a property-specific _ga_* cookie used to maintain session state. Google documents a default expiration period of up to two years for these cookies, subject to browser limitations and the site's Analytics configuration.

FreeCell Now does not use the freecell_remember_device preference cookie for Analytics, and changing the game's remember setting does not change the regional Analytics rule.

You can learn more from Google's Google Analytics data collection documentation, GA4 cookie documentation, and Google Privacy Policy.

Technical data used to operate the site

When your browser requests a page, standard technical information is necessarily processed by the systems that deliver and protect freecellnow.com. Depending on the request and service configuration, this can include your IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, approximate request time, HTTP headers, and security or diagnostic information.

FreeCell Now uses Cloudflare in production for services such as content delivery, network performance, reliability, protection against malicious or abusive traffic, and approximate country detection. Cloudflare therefore receives and processes request information as part of providing those services.

Where the regional rule described above allows Google Analytics to load, Google also processes Analytics measurement data as described in the Google Analytics section.

Service providers and external links

Cloudflare. Cloudflare provides infrastructure, content-delivery, security, and related network services for freecellnow.com. In that role, Cloudflare may process technical request information on our behalf and may also process certain information as an independent controller for purposes described in its own policies. You can review the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum.

Google Analytics. For visitors for whom the Analytics tag is allowed to load under the regional rule described above, Google provides the Analytics measurement service and processes the resulting measurement data according to the applicable Google terms, settings, and policies. See the Google Privacy Policy.

External links. The site may link to third-party websites, including social-media pages. If you follow an external link, that third party may collect or process information under its own privacy policy. FreeCell Now does not control the privacy practices of those external sites.

International data transfers

Cloudflare operates a global network, so technical request information may be processed in countries other than the country where you are located. For transfers subject to European, UK, or Swiss data-protection rules, Cloudflare describes the transfer mechanisms and safeguards it uses in its Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum, including applicable adequacy mechanisms and standard contractual clauses.

When Google Analytics is loaded for an eligible visitor, Analytics measurement data may be processed using Google's infrastructure in countries other than the visitor's country, subject to Google's applicable contractual and privacy safeguards.

Data retention

Browser game data: optional game data in localStorage remains on your device until you turn the remember feature off, clear the site's browser data, or your browser removes it.

Preference cookie: freecell_remember_device is set for up to one year from your most recent explicit change to that setting, unless you delete it sooner.

Google Analytics: Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured for the FreeCell Now GA4 property and Google's applicable service policies. GA4 also uses first-party cookies as described in the Google Analytics section; their actual lifetime may be shortened by browser controls or deletion of site data.

Technical information: FreeCell Now and its infrastructure providers retain technical logs or diagnostics only for periods reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, service reliability, legal requirements, and the applicable service configuration. The exact period can vary by type of log and provider setting. We aim not to retain technical information longer than needed for those purposes.

Your browser-storage choices

You can use FreeCell Now without persistent game storage. Open the game Settings and change Remember my game and preferences on this device whenever you want.

If you turn it off, the game removes the FreeCell Now game data it manages in localStorage. You can also use your browser controls to inspect, block, or delete cookies and other site data.

If you previously enabled optional storage in a situation where consent is the applicable legal basis, turning the setting off withdraws that choice for future use of the feature. This does not affect processing that was lawful before the change.

The game's remember control does not opt you into or out of Google Analytics. If Analytics is available in your region, browser privacy controls or extensions may provide additional ways to block or delete Analytics cookies and requests.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may have rights regarding personal information processed by FreeCell Now, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability, and to object to certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may also have the right to withdraw consent.

If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests in circumstances provided by applicable law.

Because most game information described in this policy is stored only in your own browser and is not linked to an account, we may not possess or be able to identify that local game data on our systems. You can delete that browser-stored information directly through the game setting or your browser controls.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in the country or region where you live, work, or believe a data-protection issue occurred.

Children's privacy

FreeCell Now is a general-audience card game. It does not require account registration and is not designed to ask players to submit names, email addresses, payment information, or player profiles before playing.

If you believe personal information relating to a child has been provided to FreeCell Now in a way that requires attention, please contact us using the method below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the site, its infrastructure, Analytics configuration, or applicable requirements change. If we make a material change, we will revise the date at the top of this policy and, where required, provide additional notice before a new use of personal information begins.
